Ms. Dow views art in her classroom as an essential way to connect different academic subjects, identities, and cultures, all while becoming confident and creative thinkers.
Shooting at Lakewood Elementary has been an amazing experience that has challenged me as both a student and an artist. Each time I stepped foot into the classroom, I was embraced with hugs and an infectious energy of curiosity and enthusiasm. Navigating the classroom as a documentarian, I was lucky to observe the students bubble with imagination and share meaningful moments with peers. I am extremely grateful to Ms Dow, who instantly welcomed me into her classroom, sharing with me the joy and creativity of her art classroom.
